Official 1 Year Stats

We had Anthony's official 1 year check-up with the doctor last week. I was fully expecting to be BLOWN away with his progress, but... we haven't grown as much as mommy thought we had. His official stats were:

Height: 31.5 inches (still off the charts, but he's only grown half an inch since SEPT!!)
Weight: 25 lbs 10 oz. (this was actually down from his appt in Nov, so.... I dunno)

His head was in the 85th percentile so I guess that's normal since he's up in height and weight :)

He's now wearing 12-18 month clothes in pants, 2T in shirts, and size 5 in shoes.
He has 4 beautiful white shiny teeth.

Some of his favorites:

Food- Chicken nuggets, hot dogs, diced peaches
Toys- Drums, xylophone, Elmo, his walker
Words- Dada, Baba, Dandit (Bandit), Yea (With HUGE head nods), No (also with HUGE head nods)
People- Daddy is by far his favorite person. He runs to the door to great him when he gets home with huge hugs. Papa is also one of his favorite people. He will hold on to Pa and cry when you try and separate them. Pretty sweet.
Helpful task- He LOVES to walk his diaper to the trashcan and throw it away. I love watching how excited he gets to complete this task. Such a big helper.
No-no's- Getting into the cabinet under the sink (we keep all of our cleaning supplies there and haven't go the latches put on so he likes to see how fast he can get to it to pull stuff out... don't worry, he never gets anything) He also LOVES to spill his bottle or sippy cup on everything. He figured out pretty quick how to turn over his bottle and bend the nipple so milk, water, and juice would spill out. He makes a fun game of this with us.
Activity-The cupid shuffle. He has a toy that sings and he does the "dance" along with the toy when it's playing. I could watch that alllll day.

I'd like to say that his one year appointment was uneventful other than his stats, but it wasn't. We spent over 3 hours in the office trying to get Anthony's oxygen levels to come up above mid 80's, and were then sent to the hospital for the night. (A seperate blog)

Besides all of the fun health problems and our first TERRIBLE pediatrician...Overall this has been a pretty fun year. I love watching how big he is getting and how much he is learning.

Pictures are coming soon I promise.

One Year

One year ago today I gave birth to my sweet baby boy. This last year has changed my life. It's amazing how much your focus changes when you have something so small depending on you to get things done. Wow.

On his first day my son weighed in at 8bls 11oz. 21.5 inches long.
Today his is almost 30 pounds and 32 inches tall.* (These are merely estimates b/c he hasn't had his 12 month appointment yet)

Things we are looking forward to now that he's 1:

1. Turning the car seat around. The poor kid outgrew his infant seat before he was 6 months old. I had the SafeKids people install his new car seat, but as his birthday approached this rear seat was running out of room for his poor poor legs. He has been sitting like a frog for over a month, and I am so excited for him to face forward and finally see what's going on!!

2. Drinking cows milk. Due to the fact I was unable to nurse, Anthony's been on formula for most all of his life. This didn't seem like a huge deal at first, but BOY can this kid eat!! We learned quickly that he would need more than formula to keep him full. Even with the introduction of "solids" at 3 months, we go through roughly $75/week in formula. Now that we can ween him off of formula and on to milk we are excited for the savings that await us :)

3. Daycare premiums drop. Once my sweet angel can drink from a sippy cup exclusively he will get promoted into his new class at daycare. This new class will save us $60/month :) He's always been one of the youngest kids in his class (due to his early crawling), so they are anxious to move him up again. He's been walking for a couple of months and is doing a great job so they want to see what he can do next.

There are a million reasons why it was exciting to see our son turn one. Those are a few of the superficial ones. It's always nice to save money, but one of the main reasons I was so excited was the utter satisfaction. I did it. I survived. He survived. We're doing good!!

I look forward to seeing what another year does in our little family. He learns so quickly and has developed a fun attitude. I couldn't have asked for a better baby. Thanks Anthony, and Happy Birthday :) Mommy loves you!!

Wow.

Ok, I know. I've had about 100 different blogs over the last several years, but I always loose track and get bored... and quit writing. The same will inevitably happen with this blog but hey... a girl can do what she wants with her time right??

Most of this blog will be some about the kiddo. He seems to dominate my life, but I will also do a lot of venting about various situations too. If you don't like it.. please feel free to stop reading. I didn't ask you to come and read so it's that simple. Feel free to comment, but just know... there is a good chance that SOMETHING I say on this blog will offend someone. Sorry. Deal with it.

Anywhoo.. Enjoy.
